NEWS: ART IN THE CANTEEN AT AC GROUP
Junkyard – a 2 × 5 meter painting now adorns the wall of the canteen. The work is a gift from CEO Claus A. Christensen on the occasion of his 60th birthday – to himself and the company’s 270 employees.
”You work with hydraulics, which is a big part of what you deal with, namely cars. I recieved a tip, that there were 50 cars located in the forests of Sweden. I started searching for the word junkyard and came across Båstnäs, which is located on the border between Sweden and Norway. Back in 1952, two brothers bought a red garage – to make Volvo and Saab. Today there are 700 cars. They are now in a nursing home, ” says Steen Larsen about the inspiration for the work and the connection to the company.
The oil painting Junkyard is a commissioned work to Claus A. Christensen. The landscape painter Steen Larsen has worked intensively on the work for four months up to the delivery, which took place on Tuesday 26 October 2021 – two days after Claus A. Christensen’s 60th birthday.
On the theme of a car cemetery, Claus A. Christensen explains:
“To me, it has it all: minimalism, surrealism and the story of the transience of life with the cars being eaten by the forest floor. Now you can not imagine it was not there.”
The painting in the canteen has been created in collaboration with Gallery NB.
